When gunslinger Joe Burdette (Claude Akins) kills a man in a saloon, Sheriff John T. Chance (John Wayne) arrests him with the aid of the town drunk, Dude (Dean Martin). When Frank moves in, he finds that the bigoted townspeople have recently let three brothers, who are also his neighbors, get away with the lynching murder of innocent Native Americans. As tensions between the townspeople and local Native Americans rise, Hank becomes torn between fighting against injustice and keeping his true identity a secret.

Billy the Kid (Anthony Dexter) retires from the outlaw life, fakes his own death and adopts the name William Bonney. Soon, William runs into Jack Slade (Sonny Tufts), a gun-toting stranger who is itching for a gunfight. Jack falls in with a group of thugs terrorizing William's town. The Rev. Jericho Jones (Buddy Rogers) exhorts William to defend the townspeople, and, when William's maid, Tonya (Marie Windsor), is beaten by the thugs, he grabs his pistol.

True Grit

After an outlaw named Tom Chaney murders her father, feisty 14-year-old farm girl Mattie Ross hires Rooster Cogburn, a boozy, trigger-happy lawman, to help her find Chaney and avenge her father. The bickering duo are not alone in their quest, for a Texas Ranger named LaBoeuf is also tracking Chaney for reasons of his own. Together the unlikely trio ventures into hostile territory to dispense some Old West justice.
